‘There are three great truths: 1st, That there is a God; 2nd, That he has spoken to us in the Bible; 3rd, That he means what he says.’
Hudson Taylor
When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” John 11:43
The story of Jesus raising Lazarus is one of my favorite moments in the Bible. Can you imagine what that would have looked like? What would it look like to the people watching? What would it have been like for Lazarus? Jesus walks to the tomb of Lazarus, who has been dead for four days and commands that the stone be moved and then with the authority and sovereignty of God Almighty he commands Lazarus to come out. Then, “The man who had died came out,”. Never a doubt. Jesus knew Lazarus would come out. Read his prayer and you can see the confidence of Jesus, who knew he was God and knew this would and could be accomplished. It is only ever man who doubts.
God means what He says. God never doubts what he says, nor questions the authority or the seriousness of it. It is only man who doubts. Believers we must be about our Father’s business, we must know that God has called us to reach all peoples with the Gospel of Christ. We are to bring the light to those in darkness. 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 says, “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. “ We must understand that we are guaranteed victory. God knows sinners will be saved. We know, based on what we are told in the Bible, that “you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,” (Rev. 5:9). We doubt our ability to reach people in the name of Christ, but God never does. We can be fearless in our work for the kingdom and for God’s ability to use us. What better use of our time could there ever be?
“The motive is this, ‘Oh! that God could be glorified, that Jesus might see the reward of his sufferings! Oh! that sinners might be saved, so that God might have new tongues to praise him, new hearts to love him! Oh! that sin were put an end to, that the holiness, righteousness, mercy, and power of God might be magnified!’ This is the way to pray; when thy prayers seek God’s glory, it is God’s glory to answer thy prayers.”
– Charles H. Spurgeon
Support Update
Monthly: we are at 8%
One time: we are at 7%
We have seen a big jump in support from multiple people and we cannot praise God enough for you. It is an incredible feeling to know that there are other believers who are praying and supporting the work that has been given to us. We would like to be at 15% in monthly support by the end of October, would you prayerfully consider helping in that? You can visit our giving page at: https://www.abwe.org/prycesofafrica.

Jacob and Carol Lee, our team leaders from Reaching Africa’s Unreached, have been traveling all over the US sharing all that God has been doing in Uganda. They have gotten to spend time with their grandkids and their children. Jacob recently preached at a supporting church on the God who opens. Listen below and be encouraged.
When Jacob and Carol got back to the states, they sent Sara and I a huge box of books. These were all books that had impacted them. The first I read was, The Missionary Theologian, by E.D. Burns. It was brilliant. After reading it, I emailed Dr. Burns and to my joy, he emailed me back and offered to chat on the phone. I spent a good hour on the phone with him. What a blessing that was. We discussed how our missiology comes from our theology. Our theology comes from our understanding the doctrines of God (salvation, atonement etc.). He encouraged me to dig into those doctrines on a deep level and to really understand them. Understanding those would bring the biggest impact on the field. You can read more about him here: https://www.westernseminary.edu/academics/faculty/ed-burns
Our teammate Amanda Langworthy has had to have some surgery on her hips. These went well and she has an upcoming knee surgery. Pray for continue recovery for her. They are currently at 18% monthly and 45% in their one time! God is awesome!
On a serious note, Uganda has had a small Ebola outbreak occur. There have been 31 cases and 19 deaths. Please be in prayer for the Doctors, Government, and the people. Uganda has dealt with Ebola before, Lord willing, they will be able to get it under control quickly.
